Tears for Fears are an English new wave band formed in 1981 by Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith. Founded after the dissolution of their first band, the mod-influenced Graduate, they were initially associated with the new wave synthesizer bands of the early 80s but later branched out into mainstream rock and pop, which led to international chart success. a-ha was a Norwegian band formed in Oslo in 1982. The band was founded by Morten Harket (vocals), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards) and Pål Waaktaar (guitars). A-ha group initially rose to fame during the mid-1980s after being discovered by musician and producer John Ratcliff, and had continued global success in the 90s and 2000s.     A-ha achieved their biggest success with their debut album, Hunting High and Low, in 1985. Camouflage is a German new wave trio consisting of lead singer Marcus Meyn, Heiko Maile and Oliver Kreyssig. Their only Billboard Hot 100 hit was “The Great Commandment” which climbed to No. 59 in 1988, though it did spend three weeks at No. 1 on the US dance chart. Nena (Gabriele Susanne Kerner) is a German singer and actress who rose to international fame in 1983 with the New German Wave song “99 Luftballons.” In 1984, she re-recorded this song in English as “99 Red Balloons.” Nena was also the name of the band with whom she released the song. With the re-recording and subsequent release of some of her old songs, her career re-emerged in 2002. Alphaville is a German synthpop group which gained popularity in the 80s. The founding members were lead singer Marian Gold, Bernhard Lloyd and Frank Mertens. The band was at first named “Forever Young” before changing to “Alphaville”. Bros was a British band active in the late 80s and early 90s, consisting of twin brothers Matt Goss and Luke Goss, and Craig Logan.
